about

Lebasi Lashley works with layered collages of disparate symbols from varied cultures, histories and contexts. She uses these, in conjunction with images from the botanical world, to create narrative art that is often both subtly political and overtly intimate. The small stream of the personal psyche is juxtaposed with large currents of history and individualism that make up the contemporary American experience.

Ms. Lashley was a founding member of the ADHOC Group, a not-for-profit promoting and producing inter-disciplinary collaborations between artists and designers. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Art and a Bachelors of Art from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
